About
My love for and of tennis can be traced back to age 12. My mother bought a cheapo tennis racquet one summer (I think to get me out of the house!). Luckily, a neighbor, who was the same age, fell in love with tennis at the same time. There were 2 tennis courts a few blocks from our house and we were there all the time. We both couldn't get enough! We were evenly matched and had some epic matches - at least in our minds. We later played tennis in high school and 1 year of college together as these were great memories we had.
Needless to say, I was hooked from the start. What a great game! It's the ultimate mono e mono (or, woman e woman) game. ;) Strategy, endurance, athleticism and mental abilities are all tested like no other game.
Every time I could, I watched matches on TV (not that many in the 1970's) and read every word of every tennis magazine I could find - twice! I just couldn't get enough but I really tried. Since I grew up in a small SE Kansas town, tennis coaches and trainers were basically non-existant so we had to rely on learning from just playing, reading and doing.
Tennis in high school was great as we won our league championship my junior and senior years and I was able to win league doubles both years as well. We also went to the state championships my senior season and went to the quarterfinals. We had a great time.
College tennis lasted only 1 year for me as my priorities shifted away from tennis and towards other things. This is a regret I have because I was offered a 4 year scholarship but I decided to go to a junior college and then on to a non-playing college situation.
Luckily, I re-found tennis after college because my love for it returned. Actually, it never left, I just decided to do others things for a while - get a job, get married and start my life. So, in my mid-late 20's, I started playing tournaments again and the great feelings all came rushing back in.
I was able to do pretty well as I was able to get to #1 in singles and doubles in the Kansas District of the Missouri Valley (4.5's). I loved it but after several years, I got burnt out and took a break from playing. I repeated this cycle a time or 2 more, and played team tennis a few years. Lately, I've been re-bitten by the tennis bug and am back to playing and enjoying it.
All along, I've strung racquets after getting my first stringer in the mid 80's (Klipspringer drop weight). This stringer served me well but I have stepped up quite a bit to an Alpha professional stringer. Alpha is recognized as one of the top stringers available. I calibrate my stringer regularly to make sure its accuracy. This way, you can be sure to get a very consistent string job, time after time.
I have successfully completed my Master Racquet Technician (MRT) testing and certification. The MRT is the most prestigious and difficult certification offered by the United States Racquet Stringers Association (USRSA), the most recognized professional stringing and racquet service organization in the world. This certification is my promise to you that I am dedicated to improving my skills as a stringer and racquet service technician.
I tell you all this, not to brag on myself or make myself look good, but to let you know that I'm a player, too and love this game. Since I love this game so much, I am passionate about providing you with the best service possible because that's what I would want for myself.
I am here to take care of your stringing and racquet servicing needs. Please contact me if you have any questions. I look forward to doing business with you.
Thanks for your business!!
